Why do we do it?
There are as many reasons for joining a live action role play group such as ours as there are players within a given group.
Most players love the chance to actually be inside a story - the more interesting the story the better. There is excitement and the chance to make decisions (and face the consequences) in situations that almost all of us will never have the opportunity to make in real life (and do so with only a risk to the character's - not the player's health).
Others love aspects of medieval life, music, art, some join it to get a feel for medieval weaponry and tactics others like to be amateur dramatists and yet more still like to sit in a tavern and take in the ambience of "The Prancing Pony" at Bree or in "The Black Bull" and drink with the likes of Dick Turpin.
If you have wanted to be a flamboyant highwayman, a farmer with a dark past, a bounty hunter or carouser this is the hobby for you.
Where do we do it?
In the past many adventures have used wilder parts of public land or converted garages and barns.
Currently Carpe Fatum is in the process of building a traditional (ish) tavern from natural materials and developing my site at Orby near Skegness. Other venues may be used where appropriate.
