Embarrassingly enough, it seems I've been cheating a little bit. For the record:
Fast Cavalry have 360 line of sight only when shooting in the shooting phase and explicitly not for stand and shoot or charging. So if you catch me charging my gladeriders backwards again give me a slap.
I assume this is a game mechanics inspired qualification since it doesn't make a great deal of sense in real life.
Cav1: Hey those goblins we just shot are looking a bit pasty, shall we charge them?
Cav2: What goblins?
Cav1: Maybe if we use our 'free reform' to turn 180 degrees without any move penalty you could see them.
Cav2: Oh those goblins!
Cav1: Yes. Those goblins. Can we charge now?
Cav2: Nope. We just moved.
Cav1: Yeah 0"!
Cav2: Dems the Rules. May as well just trot towards them menacingly and take another few pot shots.
Cav1: Or... we could use our 360 line of sight to smack ourselves in the back of the head!
Also:
According to the FAQ, in 7th the normal warhammer game is a Pitched Battle (p.248 WHRB) so I get my extra trees. But then since we tend to play to annhialation and ignore VPs and turn limits, I suppose this isn't really such a biggie.
