Erasmus Combat Rules

Some of the new Erasmus events may involve combat !!

Whether this is with BB/paintball guns or simply hand to hand stuff such as happens during fantasy LARPing there are other considerations that need to be taken into account.

Firstly there is the issue of combat in public places: when you are fighting in full armour and robes the general public and police tend to look at it as some form of organised activity and tend to be reasonable(ish).
As Erasmus is modern day we neeed to take great care and use huge amounts of common sense (which some of us may not actually possess in the amounts needed  ^_^), so as not to cause panic and distress. Even loitering in a street at night may cause residents to ring the police...
So therefore modern day combat must be done in provate locations - carrying a BB/paintball gun in a public place can be constitued as an offence so again ... think about all actions.
Technically it is impossible to buy a carving knife from a supermarket and walk home with it without breaking the law - but generally the police are sensible.
If you have a BB gun unloaded in a bag or briefcase and are not threatening anyone - no one will care - think about all the country huntsmen who walk down lanes with broken shotguns. But if you are menacing someone - even another player - in today's climate expect an armed response unit.

Secondly to cover safety in relation to the group's insurance - goggles or safety glasses need to be worn when combat happens.
To make this work in character - the group will need to contact a superior who will give them the authorisation to undertake combat. This will usually be a house master or the grandmaster himself (but OOC will actually be a gamesmaster who will say yeah or nay in terms of safety, common sense etc.)
Authorisation  -when given will involve players getting out weapons, donning safety gear etc. and the GM will then get the NPC crew to do the same.

Always think How does this look? Is this safe? rather than dropping OOC.
