We have been approached by the Chapel St. Leonards Carnival Committee who have asked us if we can put on some sort of display over the weekend of Thursday 12th August to Sunday 15th August - they would like us to put on a bit of a battle in the Saturday afternoon and maybe join in a few other things.

If you are up for it - it should be fun but any suggestions on what else we could do would be most interesting.

Some kind of small play thing could work - I'm sure Jane could work something out, with plenty of suitable medieval villains and brave heroes and swashbuckling types fighting it out for the pleasure and entertainment of all. Could also do some general weapons training to have lots of fights going on, and people just wander over and talk to anyone - or even a small tournament, complete with medieval betting man wandering round pretending to take wagers.

We could also do a crucifixion of anyone we catch cheating from now until then - but the police might be concerned by that.

Lots of things you could do :)

you could always challenge the scummy holidaymakers, especially the chisits, to a duel. that would be fun.  something i want to do all the time when the librarians at uni decide to tell me about their holiday memories. (never reveal yr from skeg in leicester u will be there for hours.)

Now branding theirs and idea,i mean we have this nice 'character' for that. All in all thou sounds like a good laugh. O and if anyone needs weapons, etc mail me or post on the marketplace (shameless plug i know)

My motley crue have also been approached (my choreographer runs Chapel carnival) so it looks like there could be 2 bunches armed and in medieval kit - of course a skirmish between the 2 would be out of the question?

I dont necessarily see the reason for lack of a skimish between two sets of themed groups provided only LARP weaponry is used. Also doubt the police would care since its the carnival and they dont seem to give a shit...

Thirdly, i reckon inviting holiday-makers to join in the experience (provided they arent dressed like a chav or look like they are too menacing) would be too dire, give them a quick tutorial in safe weapon combat before hand, slap some easily removable armour on them and make them sign a disclaimer and let them revel in the fun of LARP fighting.

Plus if there is room, nicks bunch of nutcases can have a bit of a scrap with the Illyria, errr, well nutcases....

All fun and games, plus i think me and chris bare-chested dagger fighting with 5 hits per would be interesting... and amusing.

Oh, 1 more thing, Circle of Treachery :)

Several of our people are LRP players (10 of them are familar with the hobby) and we train with LARP weapons anyway and wear the same kit, its just our people smell better.

 :)

I was thinking of doing a sacrifice to Woden and an exhibition of the pre Christian Gods. I dont think Freyga being ravaged by 4 dwarfs will be approved. (other than Darklord are there any other Norse/Saxon mythology fans here?)

See the trouble is that yet again Historical events and Fantasy worlds with dwarfs in cannot be mixed. Ive not yet heard the great dwarven empire that challenged the ancient egyptians.

If we are doing something about Roleplay, then we do that and dont try to tie it in with anything else. Re-enactment is for recounting what happened historically, RPing is in a fake world thats ever so slightly different.

Oh and one last thing - There are going to be children present at a carnival, how about lets not show them how a ritual sacrifice takes place as I am sure parents and the police might not be over-happy.

I couldnt care less about parents, in over  a decade of entertaining kids I know the kids dont give a sod about "and heres a serf shovelling manure" or "look at this poor bitch cooking soup over an open fire" its the death and gore they lap up. Some kids are sensitive, I know, and you cant go full hog, its down to common sense and your age range.

Obviously you have to be careful how you present it, but story telling works.

Besides a scrap with the RPers would be totally detached, in that we could monster and leave it to Chris what happens, my exhibit or whatever is with my own team.

I was considering a Dark age wrestling match, with Dwarves, Orcs etc it would be really funny?

Yea see the problem is that some kids are too young to do anything but "here is some old woman washing the pots in an olden time" and may very well get scared by someone getting stabbed up. If we are going to do anything like this it has to be carefully planned and we cant have any nutjobs brought along who are gonna go off on a tangent. Im perfectly happy with the groups working together to have a staged battle but monstering this that and the other probably wont work, since most people wont have a clue whats going on unless its explained in full, but then what would be the point in doint it.

If you want to take your bunch of oddballs and go and do something crazy that you scheme up after a week of no sleep and chasing townies in landrovers then you do that but im pretty sure that if its involving CarpeFatum then Chris will be the one deciding what happens. Im fairly sure therefore, he will realise you are talking out of your arse as per usual and ignore most of your comments...

Good day.

I thought its me that misses the point?

I just said I'm planning on doing something on a different day in a subtle way independant of Carpefatum under a different banner. Which bit didnt you figure out? (wait for screech of "whats that got to do with RP")

Also I'm involved with about half a dozen different groups CF being just one.

How about everyone ignore you?

Darklord can you have some inteligent feedback here? And one of our members was a retired wrestler, and 3 of our guys are kickboxers, about 6 (now Claires been kicked out) of us are role players and me a reenactor so wrestling seems logical and safer than using weapons...

.. oh and I prefer girl wrestlers...

You want intelligent feedback? Ask an intelligent question then!

If one of your mates is a trained and experienced wrestler then I am sure he could put on a great display if he has a decent partner - that might be good.  If it comes down to a bunch of guys rolling around in the mud - which it pretty much will with non experienced grapplers whos gonna want to watch it?  Any way what the hell does being a kick boxer have to do with wrestling unless they are also cross training in some kind of grappling art?  You want a sensible suggestion then ask your wrestler buddy to teach one of the other guys enough to keep him unhurt whilst being thrown around, run it by the carnival organisers and if they say yes go for it, but I cannot see them sanctioning a bunch of people having a brawl - which is how they will see it if you approach them as you do us.

As for your comment of not caring what the parents think - people can vote with their feet mate and drag their kids away from the nutters pretending to do a human sacrifice - which they will in massive numbers then complain loudly to the event organisers.

Why was Claire kicked out?
- He shall be the first against the wall come the  revolution!
- Then at least in death he shall achieve the modishness that escapes him in life...
