Whats the verdict? I'm bored of everyone going on about the Christian mythology, you find it in most mythical movies. This one has the near human sacrifice of Caspian himself, living trees, fauns and centaurs - and Minotaurs with BIG axes!

I find that an odd statement - as C S Lewis the author of all the Narnia novels was a devout evengelical Christian and the whole Narnia story is an allegorical representation of Christianity.
Aslan - Jesus
Witch queen - satan etc.

but hey ...

Ps wildeman are you coming roleplaying again soon

Then there's The Last Battle - totally pinched from the book of revelation, and the last few pages of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader pretty much state that Aslan is Jesus, just in case anyone had missed it in LWW.

Not that I have a problem with any of this - I adore the Chronicles, and seriously doubt that anyone has read them and decided to convert to Christianity as a result!!

Finally seen it now. Great as a film, but I'm not sure what the random attacking of the castle and the river god thing were all about. Not to mention the romance. Why tamper with a story that was already excellent?? Loved Eddie Izzard as Reepicheep though, genius casting.

Tampering with a story is typical hollywood bullshit these days I'm afraid.  Look at the way they mucked around with lotr to make it fit "modern sensibilities"  Still they made a better job of that than the 1st narnia film.  Havent seen Caspian yet and to be honest I'm not in a rush to either.

As for the christian myth thing I think cs lewis inadvertantly overplayed his hand in some ways and just pointed out how "christian" and "pagan" themes are pretty closely linked so much of the time.

Jock Lewis and JRR Tolkien were great freinds who while Christians, had a good knowledge of other faiths, as in Tolkiens famous letter to Hitler (in the notes of the Silmarillion).

I'm sick of being told not to watch it because of the Christian message. As an old fashioned good versus evil movie, its great. Its not dark, evil or scary but it is fun.

I'm coming soon, but my colleague who is crucial to work with my character isnt very well atm so I am trying to sort somthing out.

Whos saying dont go see it because of the christian message?  I find it puzzling that a work of fiction can cause such problems - like the rabid response of some christians to the phillip pullman dark materieals books (or more to the point the film which is what really got the attention).

It seems like we are going into a new dark age where religion and beliefe are more important than anything else and all any one (from whatever faith or beliefe system including atheist) has to say is "I believe..." for rational debate to be expected to tiptoe quietly away)

Rant ends

the overall all opinion I was getting by various freinds and emails was "dont watch it cos its full of Christian stuff". Doesnt bother me, I have better things to do than pick apart movies that are either blatantly or subtlely religious!
